Hockey India CEO resigns after not receiving salary! He remained in office for 13 years

The controversy is not stopping in Hockey India. After the resignation of women's team coach Yanek Shoepman a few days ago, Hockey India Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Elena Norman also resigned on Tuesday. He alleged that his salary has been stuck for a long time and it has become difficult to work due to factionalism in the federation.

Normal, a resident of Australia, had been on this post for about 13 years, but had not received salary for the last three months. Norman's resignation is another blow to the national federation which has not given the exact reason for his departure in its official statement. However, Norman said that the two factions in the federation made it difficult for him to work.

Norman was also unhappy with the working environment at Hockey India.

Norm's resignation comes days after the resignation of Indian women's hockey team head coach Yanek Schoepman. Shopman claimed that the national federation did not value and respect him. He had said that due to the team not being able to qualify for the Paris Olympics, he was facing a lot of criticism.

Hockey India president and former Indian captain Dilip Tirkey accepted Norman's resignation and thanked him. “Not only as the President of Hockey India, but as a former player and hockey lover, I thank him for his outstanding contribution over the last 12-13 years,” he said. His dedication and efforts played a vital role in bringing Hockey India and Indian hockey to the strong position it is today. I wish him all the best for the future. Norman spent most of his tenure as head of Hockey India under former International Hockey Federation president Narendra Batra.

India's men's and women's teams achieved their best-ever rankings during Norman's tenure. Not only this, the men's team ended its 41-year long wait for a medal by winning the bronze medal in the Tokyo Olympic Games. The women's team also stood fourth in these games.

Elena Norman said that there are two groups in Hockey India. On one side are me and (President) Dalip Tirkey and on the other side are (Secretary) Bholanath Singh, (Executive Director) Commander RK Srivastava and (Treasurer) Shekhar J Manoharan. The work was becoming difficult due to mutual fighting between the two groups.
