Historic decision of Central Government, permission for allocation of ‘all women battalion’ in CISF

CISF 1st Women’s Battalion: To increase the participation of women soldiers in the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), the Central Government has approved the formation of the first all-women reserve battalion with more than a thousand women soldiers. It is noteworthy that this decision has been taken in view of the increasing requirement of CISF personnel on duty at airports and other important institutions.

There will be 1025 women soldiers in the battalion.

According to officials, the reserve battalion will be drawn from the already sanctioned two lakh personnel. There will be 1025 women soldiers in this reserve battalion. Whereas it will be headed by a senior Commandant level officer. The Union Home Ministry has issued an order in this regard and approved it. CISF currently has 12 reserve battalions. According to officials, whenever CISF gets the responsibility of security in any election or new organization, a reserve battalion is deployed.

It will provide security to 68 airports in the country

According to officials, CISF is responsible for the security of 68 airports in the country including Delhi Metro, Red Fort and Taj Mahal. Apart from this, CISF provides anti-terrorism security to nuclear and aerospace related organizations as well as private sector organizations such as Infosys offices in Bengaluru and Pune, Reliance’s refinery in Jamnagar. A large number of women soldiers are needed here. For this, a proposal was made to the government to create an all-women reserve battalion.

Parliament got the responsibility of security in July

In July, the Central Government had handed over the security of the country’s Parliament to CISF. Earlier the responsibility of security of Parliament was with CRPF. CISF has deployed more than 3,300 soldiers here. 29 officers have also been appointed to lead them. These officers include one Deputy Director General, one Senior Commandant, two Commandants, seven Deputy Commandants and 18 Assistant Commandants. Two of these officers are from the fire wing.
