Hisar: All license holders should deposit their weapons for peaceful elections: ADGP Dr. M. Ravi Kiran

Hisar, 19 April (Hissar). Hisar Range's Additional Director General of Police, Dr. M. Ravi Kiran on Friday directed all the arms licensees of the range to deposit their weapons in the respective police stations or gun houses as soon as possible. He said that the code of conduct has been imposed in the entire country in view of the Lok Sabha elections. In such a situation, action will be taken against those persons who have licensed weapons and do not deposit their weapons before the elections.

ADGP Dr. M. Ravi Kiran said on Friday that there are 39 thousand 924 arms licenses in Hisar range, out of which about 48 percent arms have been deposited so far. Maximum weapons have been deposited by District Police Sirsa. About 70 percent of licensed weapons have been deposited in Sirsa. About 50-50 percent of the weapons have been deposited by Hisar Police and Police District Dabwali. About 45 percent weapons have been deposited by Jind Police and about 42 percent weapons have been deposited by Hansi Police District. So far, about 33 percent weapons have been collected in Fatehabad district.

ADGP said that there are a total of 7854 licensed weapons in Sirsa district, while there are 2470 licensed weapons in Police District Hansi, 2439 in Police District Dabwali, 8812 in District Jind, 8995 in District Hisar and 9354 in District Fatehabad. 5439 licensed weapons have been deposited by the police department in district Sirsa, while 1031 licensed weapons have been deposited by police district Hansi, 1205 by police district Dabwali, 3979 by Jind police, 4460 by Hissar police and 3041 licensed weapons have been deposited by Fatehabad police. He said that till now 62 licensed weapons have been confiscated in the range due to various reasons while the licenses of 76 other weapons have been cancelled. 52 licensed weapons have been seized and 72 licenses have been canceled by the police district Dabwali. Nine licensed weapons have been seized by Hisar Police while two others have been cancelled. One licensed weapon has been seized by Sirsa police while licenses of two weapons have been canceled by police district Hansi.
