Hisar: 92 thousand cheated in the name of online booking for yoga camp, case registered

Hisar, 9 May (Hissar). A case of fraud of Rs 92 thousand from a city citizen in the name of online booking for yoga camp in Patanjali Yogagram has come to light. In this, the victim had searched the helpline number for yoga camp at Patanjali Yogagram on Google. Cyber police station has registered a case and started investigation.

According to the complaint given to the police, the victim found a number while searching on Google. The victim called on that number and asked about booking at Patanjali Yoga Gram Haridwar. On this the phone receiver asked for documents for booking and the victim sent the documents including ID through WhatsApp. Not only this, he transferred Rs 92 thousand online. After the money transfer, when the victim contacted him again, he did not pick up the phone nor did Patanjali Yogagram make the booking. Cyber police station has registered a case in this matter.

On the other hand, district SP Mohit Handa said on Thursday that extracting numbers from Google is putting people in trouble. Many people are becoming victims of fraud after searching helpline numbers on Google, hence people need to be cautious. He told that fraudsters have registered fake numbers of yoga camps, restaurants, hospitals and many companies on Google search engine. Most of the numbers on Google are not from the company but from fraudsters. They are going to Google and posting their number in the name of the company instead of the customer care of big companies. In this way the number and address is being listed on Google through Google Business Account. Cyber thugs are also creating fake websites similar to that company to deceive people. Apart from this, by editing the contact details of big companies and other institutions in Google Map and Google Search, they update fake numbers.

The Superintendent of Police has said that never search the helpline number of any company on Google. Go to its website, make sure to check the spelling of the company in the address bar, if the spelling is wrong then the website is also wrong, if the website is correct then you will find Contact Us, Helpline or Support written on the left side. On these websites you can get the number through e-mail ID or live chat. When contacting the company, do not share bank related information and in case of fraud, file a complaint without any delay on cyber helpline number 1930, cyber crime portal and nearest police station. Also inform Google about this through e-mail.
