Kathua 29 October (Hindus). MLA Hiranagar Advocate Vijay Sharma inaugurated a two-day training program on soil health management for 50 farmer rural youth of Chhan Maurian Tehsil Hiranagar.
In his address, the MLA appealed to the farmers to adopt latest technologies in farming and avail maximum benefits from the projects under HADP scheme. He also stressed the need for integrated farming and asked farmers to adopt dairy farming, mushroom cultivation and beekeeping along with crop production. The training program was conducted by Divisional Soil Survey Scheme under Directorate of Agricultural Production and Farmers Welfare Jammu as part of 'Capacity Building' component of HADP Project 19-J&K Soil and Land Resources Information System Scheme and Soil Health Management.
Earlier, Suresh Kumar Khajuria Divisional Soil Survey Officer Jammu welcomed MLA Hiranagar, participating farmers and resource persons in the training programme. Sanjeev Rai Gupta Chief Agriculture Officer Kathua made the farmers aware about the government schemes being implemented by the Agriculture Department in Kathua district and requested the farmers to take benefits from these schemes. Dr. Vishal Sharma Scientist, Krishi Vigyan Kendra Kathua gave a presentation on the topic 'Sustainable Soil Health Management'. Dr. Aman Jyoti Sharma, Agricultural Chemist from Directorate of Agriculture, Jammu gave a presentation on the topic 'Judicious Use of Fertilizer'. The program was coordinated by Program Officer Rajeev Katoch from the office of Joint Director Agriculture (Extension), Jammu.
