Chaturmas 2024: Ashadha Sud Ekadashi is on 17th July and with this the Hindu Chaturmas will begin. During Chaturmas, there will be a combination of festivals like Shravan month, Rakshabandhan, Janmashtami, Navratri, Diwali etc.
Now there are only 17 auspicious times in the year 2024
The period between Devapodi Ekadashi to Devutthi Ekadashi is called Chaturmas. According to scriptures, it is believed that Lord Vishnu goes to Patal Lok on Devapodi Ekadashi. After this, when the Lord is in a sleeping posture, auspicious functions including marriages are stopped for four months. It is believed that Devutthi Ekadashi, which comes after Diwali, marks the beginning of a new wedding season with the Lord returning to earth. During the four months of Chaturmas, many devotees observe fasts like Nakorda fasting, Darshanam-Paran-Ekatana.
In the year 2024, after the Hindu Chaturmas, there are only 11 Muhurtas in November and 5 in December. Sadhu Premvatsaldasji said, 'Devotees should follow special rules during Chaturmas, those who are unable to do so should follow special rules during Shravan. This includes listening to and reading the story of God, worshiping God with Panchamrit bath, doing Satra Paath.'
