Shooting in High School: There has been a shooting incident at Apalachi High School in Georgia, USA. 4 people died in the attack. Also 9 people were injured. The injured have been admitted to the local hospital. The incident happened at 8 pm on Wednesday night as per Indian time.
Police have arrested a 14-year-old student in connection with the murder. The incident took place at a school in the city of Winder, 70 km from the capital Atlanta.
As soon as the police got information about the incident, they reached the spot and the attacker surrendered and lay down on the ground. According to CNN, the dead in this incident include 2 teachers and 2 students.
According to BBC, the attacker has been identified as Colt Gray. Now he will be tried as an adult. The police were already suspicious of the attacker's activities. The FBI had questioned Colt's family in May last year.
He then threatened a mass shooting on social media. However, he was not arrested then. Colt's father then argued that he had a hunting gun which he always kept under surveillance.
According to news agency AP, there have been 30 mass shooting incidents so far in 2024. Of these, 131 people have died. Mass shooting refers to an incident in which four or more people are killed within a period of 24 hours. The killer is not included.
There were 42 mass shootings in 2023, in which 217 people died. In this respect, last year was the worst year in American history.
