Nainital, 13 April (HS). After hearing the case of assault on the journalist by the outpost in-charge in Khatima and keeping him in lock-up without any reason, the High Court asked the state government, SSP Udham Singh Nagar and SHO Khatima to submit a reply within four weeks on the incident. Instructions have been given to do so. The court has fixed May 13 for the next hearing of the case.
The case was heard before a single bench of Justice Rakesh Thapliyal. According to the case, Khatima resident journalist Deepak Yadav had filed a petition in the High Court saying that his son Kapil Yadav was returning to Khatima after seeing the work of the house in the plot at seven o'clock on February 21, when he had an altercation with some children. His son informed him about this over the phone. As soon as the information was received, they reached the spot. But before that, outpost incharge Sandeep Pilkhawal reached there.
When the journalist sought information about this from the outpost in-charge, the in-charge abused him, took him in a car to the police station and locked him in the lockup. The police also seized his scooter by issuing a fake challan. When other journalist brothers got information about this, they went to the police station to meet him, but they were not allowed to meet him. It is said in the petition that a complaint in this regard was made to the SSP and others, but till now a case has not been registered against the outpost in-charge on their complaint. The petitioner prayed to the court that a case should be registered against the outpost in-charge.
