High Court seeks answer on National Justice Front's failure to remove the protest and not taking action against those who violate religious sentiments – News India Live

Chandigarh: The Punjab and Haryana High Court has slammed the Punjab government for failing to disperse the protest organized by the National Justice Front demanding the release of Sikh prisoners, saying the protesters have been shielding the Guru Granth Sahib for the last one year. Despite calling the DGP, no action is being taken. Knowing that it is time to harvest the wheat, the two are taking a step back in the process of removing them despite the small number of protesters.

The High Court said that if the protesters are not removed by April 18, then the government should be prepared for very strict orders from us.

Ariv Safe Society filed a petition through advocate Ravi Kamal Gupta seeking removal of the National Justice Front's protest.

It was said in the petition that the protesters have blocked the Chandigarh-Mohali road, due to which people are facing a lot of trouble.

The protests began in February last year and a petition was filed in the High Court in March.

The High Court said that only last year the protesters had made Guru Granth Sahib a shield and then they had summoned the DGP of Punjab. The court was assured that the problem would be resolved soon. Even after more than a year has passed, the road is blocked and no action is being taken. The court said that who is stopping the Punjab government and UT administration from taking action against those who shield religion. Everyone knows that it is wheat harvesting time and there are very few protesters at the spot, yet it is not known why the two are dragging their feet in removing them.
