Punjab News: Former Punjab DGP Sumedh Singh Saini has approached the Punjab and Haryana High Court regarding the murder case registered against him. The hearing of this case took place in the court today (28 October). He has argued in the petition that Punjab Police wants to arrest him at any cost.
That is why the case was registered in 2020 after a delay of thirty years in the 1991 case. He has demanded to register an FIR. The court has now issued a notice to the Punjab government in this matter. The next hearing of the case has been fixed for November 25.
Being targeted because of politics
Saini has argued in his petition that he is a 1982 batch IPS officer. Are officers. He has served in Punjab Police for almost 36 years. He retired on 30 June 2018. He has argued that he is being targeted again and again for political reasons. Punjab Police is busy arresting him. On October 11, 2018, the High Court had banned the arrest of the petitioner in any case while he was DGP, IGP or department head. He said that even after this the police did not back down. The petitioner said that Punjab Police has found a solution to this also. The FI was registered in 2020 in a 1991 case when the petitioner was SSP.
