Nainital, July 10 (HS). The High Court heard the case of illegal encroachment on Forest Department, State Highway, National Highway, forest land and revenue land. The High Court took cognizance of a letter and heard it as a public interest litigation. After the hearing, the division bench of Chief Justice Ritu Bahri and Justice Rakesh Thapliyal has fixed October 15 for the next hearing of the case.
In the previous hearing, the division bench had directed the Chief Secretary of Uttarakhand to prepare an encroachment complaint app for the 13 districts of the state, so that the aware citizens of the state can register their complaints in it. According to the case, a Delhi resident has sent a letter to the Chief Justice saying that some people have encroached upon the forest department land and the roadside in Padampuri, Nainital, with the connivance of the concerned officials.
Due to which people are facing many problems, so it should be removed. The court took cognizance of this letter and heard it as a public interest litigation. Along with this, the court expanded the scope of the public interest litigation and ordered all the district officers and DFOs to remove encroachment from national highways, state highways, forest land and revenue land in the entire state and asked them to submit a report.
