High Court formed a committee of six lawyers to investigate water harvesting in multi-storey buildings.


Ranchi, May 16 (HS). The hearing on the court's suo motu cognizance regarding conservation of Ranchi's water sources and cleaning and encroachment-free three dams of Ranchi was held in the Jharkhand High Court on Thursday. During the hearing, a committee of six lawyers was formed in the court to investigate the rain water harvesting system in multi-storey buildings of Ranchi.

This committee of advocates, along with three engineers of Ranchi Municipal Corporation, will investigate whether the multi-storey buildings in which Ranchi Municipal Corporation is claiming to have rainwater harvesting installed, are maintained or not. Whether the rainwater harvesting system is in working condition or not. The committee of advocates will investigate this and submit the report to the court.

In the last hearing, advocate LCN Shahdev, on behalf of Ranchi Municipal Corporation, had told the court that out of 710 multi-storey buildings in the capital Ranchi, water harvesting has been done in 648 multi-storey buildings. On which the court had asked him that in the multi-storey buildings in which water harvesting system has been made. Is it maintained or not? The court had also asked whether water harvesting has been done in multi-storey buildings and other buildings in areas like Punadag, Kathal Mode etc.
