Increase in high blood pressure patients

In recent times, cases of heart attacks have increased among the youth and high blood pressure has been responsible for most of the cases. According to doctors, due to increasing problems related to work after Corona, an increase in hypertension patients is also being seen. Of course, even today there is a lack of awareness about high blood pressure and hence the proportion of people who get timely treatment despite its symptoms is low.

High blood pressure is like a silent killer

According to doctors, hypertension is like a silent killer. Many people have the problem of high blood pressure but because they are not aware of it, they ignore it. Due to this, cases of the patient becoming serious due to increase in hypertension are also seen from time to time. Apart from stress, lifestyle, excessive intake of salt in food, fast food, lack of exercise, irregular lifestyle are important factors of high blood pressure.

Earlier the problem of hypertension and blood pressure was seen above the age of 40. But now the situation is changing and cases of heart attack are being seen even in the age group of 20 to 40 years. Now hypertension is being seen in the age group of 20 to 30 as well as in medical and engineering students, this is a worrying thing. One third of India's population suffers from high blood pressure. Five percent of these patients are in the age group of 20 to 30. Earlier this ratio was only two percent.

what are the symptoms?

According to doctors, many people do not realize it even when they have blood pressure. Symptoms of stage-1 hypertension are headache, restlessness, fatigue and pressure on the eyes due to stress. In stage-2, due to increase in blood pressure, serious symptoms like vomiting, swelling in legs appear. Now even a person above 20 years of age should get his blood pressure checked regularly.

What are the criteria for high blood pressure?

Many patients feel that if the doctor measures the blood pressure there, it will be high, but I have no problem. This is a misconception. Doctors do not consider blood pressure as the only measurement. Doctors assess the condition of blood pressure by checking whether there is any problem in the kidneys or not, whether there is any effect on the eye membrane or heart. If you have a certified BP machine at home and its recording is above 135-85, then it is called high blood pressure. Apart from this, another way to measure blood pressure is ABPM. In which the patient does his daily work wearing the machine. This machine measures BP twice an hour. In which a graph of 24 hours appears. If a person is at home then 135-85 and if in office then 149 is considered as the cut off.
