Kathmandu, 28 September (HS). Heavy snowfall has been reported at many places in Gorkha, the northern district of Nepal. Snowfall which usually occurs between December and February has occurred this time in the month of September only. Due to continuous rain since Friday, there have been reports of snowfall in the Himalayan region due to sudden drop below zero.
Heavy snowfall has been reported in Simdo and surrounding areas on the northern border of Gorkha district since last night. Inspector Vishwa Tripathi, head of the border outpost of the Armed Guard Force in Simdo, said that there was about two to three feet of snowfall on Friday night. Due to snowfall, life in this area has become disrupted.
According to Inspector Tripathi, apart from Samdo, the road leading to Larkepass has also been closed due to snowfall. Apart from this, snowfall has also been reported in Manaslu area from Friday night to Saturday afternoon. At this time, a large number of foreign tourists come to Manaslu area for trekking. All tourists have been informed to be taken to a safe place.
