Heavy rains wreak havoc in many states from North to East: 47 dead, three-day alert | News India

Heavy rain alert: Heavy rains are falling in almost all the states from the western Himalayan states to northeastern India. Rajasthan in the west, Madhya Pradesh in central India and Odisha and Jharkhand in eastern India are also receiving rains. Heavy rains in different parts of the country have claimed the lives of 47 people in 36 hours. 32 people have died in Uttar Pradesh, 11 in Madhya Pradesh and four in Rajasthan. Most of the deaths occurred due to collapse of walls and houses. 38 people have also been injured in the accident. Uttarakhand is in a bad condition due to rain and landslides. Kedarnath Yatra has been stopped and all schools in the area have been ordered to remain closed on Friday. The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rains in 14 states including Himachal and Uttarakhand for the next three days.

There will be heavy rain in these states

The Indian Meteorological Department has warned of heavy to very heavy rains at isolated places in the north and northeastern states for the next three days. These states include Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, West Bengal, Odisha and Jharkhand. The IMD said that due to low pressure in central India, there will be heavy rains in UP and Uttarakhand. Due to this, heavy rains are also expected in some areas of Haryana, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. There is also a danger of flash floods in many places in western Uttar Pradesh and western Madhya Pradesh.

Yellow alert for rain today, strong winds will blow

The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for rain in Delhi-NCR on Friday as well. According to the IMD, it will remain cloudy during this period and the wind is expected to blow at a speed of 25 to 35 km per hour.

Schools closed in all districts of Uttarakhand after heavy rain warning

After the warning of heavy rain in Uttarakhand, all schools up to class 12 have been ordered to be closed in all districts. The Kedarnath walking route had to be closed on Thursday due to heavy rains in Rudraprayag district. Keeping safety in mind, no one has been sent down from Kedarnath Dham. Due to the closure of the yatra, about 2500 pilgrims are stranded in Sonprayag. 168 roads are closed in the state due to rain and landslides. This includes national highways, state highways, border roads and rural motorways. The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert of heavy rain in most parts of Dehradun, Haridwar, Pauri, Bageshwar, Nainital, Champawat and Rudham Singh Nagar districts. An orange alert of heavy rain has been issued in other districts.

37 roads closed in Himachal

Friday is going to be a very heavy day for Himachal Pradesh, especially for the three districts Shimla, Kinnaur and Sirmaur. The local weather center has warned of possible floods due to heavy rains in the district and has alerted the public as well as administrative staff. Yellow alert has been declared in five out of 12 districts of the state on Friday due to heavy rains accompanied by thunder. Due to rain and landslides, 37 roads are closed in the state and 106 power supply schemes are also stalled.

Snowfall on the high peaks

The high altitude areas of Darma and Vyas valleys of Dharchula witnessed the first snowfall of the season on Thursday. Due to continuous rain on Wednesday, the temperature remained low in the high Himalayan regions. In the afternoon, the weather suddenly changed in Sipu (height 11820 feet), the last village of Darma valley, and snowfall started along with normal rain. There was about six inches of snowfall in the plains and up to one foot in the mountains. Snowfall has also occurred on the high peaks of Munsiyari, Panchachuli, Rajrambha and other high peaks. Snowfall occurred in Himachal's tribal district Kinnaur and high altitude areas.

Low lying areas of Rajasthan flooded

Due to the rains in Rajasthan for the last several days, the problem of waterlogging has arisen in the low-lying areas. In the last 24 hours, there has been twelve rains in Dholpur, Bharatpur, Karauli, Kota and Pratapgarh districts. The highest rainfall of 237 mm was recorded in Rajakheda of Dholpur. Due to this, the water of Urmila Sagar Dam located in Dholpur Bari spread on the road and National Highway 11B had to be closed for traffic. Due to excessive water accumulation, 10 gates of Parvati Dam had to be opened.

Waterlogging on tracks in Aligarh, 10 trains affected

Rail transport was stopped due to rainwater coming on the railway track at Aligarh station. 10 trains stopped where they were due to signal failure. After about two and a half hours, the signal was repaired and it was started. Due to waterlogging, other trains also had to pass at a slow speed. After the rain warning, orders have been given to keep schools up to class 12 closed on Friday in Aligarh as well as Hathras. Due to heavy rain, there was a three kilometer long jam on National Highway-19 Agra-Delhi route in Mathura from morning till evening.

11 people died in Madhya Pradesh

Datia Collector said that after 36 hours of continuous rain in the district, the wall of Rajgarh Fort in Khalkapura area collapsed on a house at around 4 am on Thursday. 9 people of the same family were sleeping in the house and all were buried under the debris. Local people somehow pulled out two people alive from the debris. Teams of district administration, police and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) reached the spot and started rescue operations. Due to the narrow road, the JCB machine broke the wall of the fort and removed the encroachment, but by then seven people had died. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has expressed grief over the incident and announced financial assistance of Rs 4 lakh each to the families of the deceased. Apart from this, three people have died in Gwalior and one in Bhind.
