Mumbai, July 12 (HS). Due to heavy rains in Mumbai since early Friday morning, low lying areas of the city like Sion, Matunga, Dadar, Hindmata, Wadala have been waterlogged. Traffic has been affected due to waterlogging on the roads. Similarly, due to waterlogging on the railway tracks, the service of Mumbai's lifeline local railway is also running at a slow pace. This has disrupted the life of Mumbai residents.
According to the Meteorological Department, since early morning today, Mumbai's Byculla has recorded 100.5 mm of rain, Mahalakshmi 41 mm, Matunga 99 mm, Sion 00 mm, Dahisar 57.5 mm, Juhu Airport 18 mm, Mumbai Airport 71.5 mm, Ram Mandir 72.5 mm, Tata Power-Chembur 58 mm and Vikhroli 65.5 mm.
The Meteorological Department has warned of rain on Saturday as well. Raigad, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg and Pune city have been given an orange alert. The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rains on July 17, 18 and 19 next week. Therefore, the administration is appealing to the citizens of the state including Mumbai to be careful and alert.

Due to the rain since early morning today, water has accumulated in the low-lying areas of Mumbai. Many places in Mumbai are filled with water up to the knees. Andheri subway, Milan subway and Malad subway are submerged in water and all these subways have been closed for traffic.
Due to rain, traffic on Central Railway, Western Railway and Harbour Railway lines has been affected. Central Railway and Central Railway traffic is running half an hour late, while Western and Harbour train services are running 15 to 20 minutes late. Road traffic has also been affected due to rain. There is heavy traffic jam on many major roads of Mumbai including Eastern Express Highway, Western Express Highway. Mumbaikars are facing problems due to the impact of rain on railway services and road transport.
