Rain alert: Heavy rains are occurring in most states across the country due to monsoon. Continuous rain in Mumbai has led to waterlogging in residential areas and roads. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for several districts of Maharashtra in view of the forecast of heavy rain and thunderstorms on Wednesday. IMD's red alert for the cities of Maharashtra has been issued till July 24. A red alert has been issued for Wednesday in some coastal areas of Maharashtra, Gujarat, Konkan, Goa and western Madhya Pradesh. At the same time, an orange alert has been issued for Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, Raigad, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg districts for today.
Earlier, Mumbai again received heavy rains on Monday and Tuesday, leading to waterlogging on roads and massive traffic jams. People in the suburbs also complained of rainwater entering their homes from the roads. A high tide alert has been issued for Mumbai's coastal areas on Wednesday as more rain is expected in the city and its neighbouring areas Thane, Palghar and Raigad on Wednesday. Mumbai is expected to be cloudy today and the temperature will hover between 24 degrees Celsius and 28 degrees Celsius.
Apart from this, the Meteorological Department has said that there will be very heavy rain in East Madhya Pradesh, Kerala, Mahe, West Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh today. At the same time, there is a possibility of heavy rain in Odisha, Kerala, Mahe, Karnataka till July 27, in Jharkhand, Vidarbha today, in West Bengal, Sikkim, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh between July 25-27.
Talking about the states of North-West India, moderate to heavy rains have been predicted in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Eastern Rajasthan, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Punjab, Western Uttar Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh etc. for the next five days.
According to the Meteorological Department, there will be heavy rain in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Eastern Rajasthan till July 27, Western Uttar Pradesh, Jammu on July 24, Western Rajasthan and Delhi on July 24. Apart from this, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi may witness more humidity for the next two days.
