New Delhi, August 13 (HS). The India Meteorological Department has warned of heavy rains for seven more days in 22 states of the country. A serious crisis has arisen due to the breaking of the dam in Sawai Madhopur, Rajasthan. 197 roads are closed in Himachal Pradesh.
According to the department, Arunachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Delhi, Meghalaya, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Tripura, West Bengal and Sikkim will receive heavy and moderate rainfall at some places. Yellow alert has been issued for 18 states and orange alert for four states.
Many areas have been submerged due to the breaking of the dam in Sawai Madhopur district of Rajasthan. Torrential rains have caused flood-like conditions in at least seven districts. 197 roads are closed due to rain, floods and landslides in Himachal Pradesh. The India Meteorological Department has predicted that heavy rainfall will continue at isolated places in Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, East and Northeast India during the next seven days.
