Heavy rain forecast in nine districts of Uttarakhand, special appeal of Chief Minister Dhami

Dehradun, July 06 (HS). Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has directed the District Magistrates of all the concerned districts to remain on high alert regarding the forecast of heavy to very heavy rainfall in nine districts of the state by the Meteorological Department on July 7. Along with this, people have also been appealed to be cautious and stay at safe places in view of possible disasters due to heavy rains.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has directed Disaster Management and Rehabilitation Secretary Vinod Kumar Suman and other officials associated with the Disaster Management Department to keep continuous monitoring of all the districts from the State Emergency Operations Center of USDMA. He said that as soon as any information regarding the disaster comes to the State Emergency Operations Center and the District Emergency Operations Center, immediate action should be taken on it.

It is worth noting that the India Meteorological Department has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall and lightning along with thunder at many places in Almora, Bageshwar, Champawat, Nainital, Pithoragarh, Udham Singh Nagar districts on Sunday, July 7. Apart from this, very heavy to extremely heavy rainfall and lightning along with thunder at some places have been forecast in Pauri, Chamoli and Rudraprayag districts.

Chief Minister Dhami has instructed all the concerned District Magistrates to be prompt at every level and take every possible precaution to protect the lives and property of the common people. He said that any disaster situation should be dealt with effectively. If the road is blocked, it should be opened immediately. He has instructed to ensure the availability of all resources in view of the possible disaster, and to keep the food and medical team ready to deal with every situation. He has also instructed the officers of various departments to be ready to deal with every situation by maintaining mutual coordination.

In his message to the general public of Uttarakhand, the Chief Minister has said that people should not pay any attention to rumours. Follow the guidelines issued by the district administration. Do not go to dangerous places and travel only if it is very necessary.

Preparations are complete at the level of the government and various departments and the government is fully prepared to deal with the challenging situation. He has appealed to children, women and the elderly to take special precautions.
