Weather update: The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for rain in most districts including Himachal Pradesh's capital Shimla. On the other hand, heavy rains in many areas of Kerala and Maharashtra's capital Mumbai have disrupted normal life. People had to face problems due to waterlogging at many places. Heavy rains are continuing in many districts of Rajasthan.
The Meteorological Center Shimla has issued a yellow alert for rain in the state till July 24. An orange alert for rain has been issued for Bilaspur, Kangra, Chamba and Mandi for July 21. Incidents of falling trees, damage to property and damage to roads have been reported in Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod districts of northern Kerala. A school bus overturned in a canal in Palakkad. However, all the children were rescued safely. The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for three days of rain for Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod. Keeping this in mind, the administration of these three districts has declared a holiday in educational institutions on July 19.
Heavy rain likely in 18 states

Along with this, lightning along with strong winds has also been predicted in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Gujarat.
Two day alert in 17 districts of Punjab from 21st
The Meteorological Department has declared a yellow alert for two days from July 21 in 17 districts of Punjab. These include Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Hoshiarpur, Nawanshahr, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Fatehgarh Sahib, Rupnagar, Patiala. During this period, light to moderate rain may occur along with strong thunderstorms.
