Heavy rain alert- The withdrawal of monsoon is now passing through its final stages. However, rain has wreaked havoc in the northern and northeastern states. Rain has wreaked havoc in the eastern districts of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.
The rivers are in spate due to continuous rains since last one week. The northern districts of Bihar and the Kosi belt districts have been devastated by floods. At the same time, due to the end of monsoon activities in Delhi-NCR, the sky may remain completely clear. The IMD said Uttar Pradesh, Saurashtra, Bihar and East Madhya Pradesh received rainfall ranging from 270 mm to 120 mm on Sunday.
This period of rain may continue on Monday also. The Meteorological Department said that a dangerous cyclonic circulation is forming near East Madhya Pradesh, due to which there is a possibility of heavy rain today. According to the forecast of the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rain in the northeastern states for the next 5 to 6 days.
The department said that there is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland and Tripura. Along with this, there is no warning for the states of North-West India and Central India like Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Telangana etc. for the next one week. Along with this, a warning of heavy rain has also been issued in Southern Peninsular India.
The Meteorological Department said that there is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rain in the south-eastern states of Meghalaya, Nagaland, Tripura, Assam and Manipur on Monday. Whereas no weather related warning has been issued in other parts of the country. IMD said there is a possibility of rain and thundershowers over northern states like Bihar, eastern Uttar Pradesh and adjoining parts. Due to heavy rains in Nepal, the rivers originating from there are in spate.
Due to heavy rains in Bihar, there is an atmosphere of panic among the people due to the threat of floods. This is the first time in 56 years that water is flowing from Kosi Barrage. People in low-lying areas are being moved to safer places as danger can come at any time.
