Heavy drop in temperature due to icy winds in Madhya Pradesh, night temperature below 10 degrees in many cities including Bhopal.

Bhopal, 26 November (HS). In Madhya Pradesh, there has been a huge drop in the temperature due to the icy winds coming from the hilly areas, due to which the bone-chilling cold is now being felt. The temperature in the state’s hill station Pachmarhi fell to 5.6 degrees Celsius on Monday night. At the same time, in the capital Bhopal too, after 49 years, the temperature in the month of November has remained below 10 degrees Celsius. The Meteorological Department says that the period of severe cold will start from the first week of December.

Meteorologist Shilpa Apte said that icy wind is coming directly from the hilly areas. Its maximum impact is in the central and eastern parts of Madhya Pradesh. The minimum temperature is likely to be around 10 degrees in the cities of central and eastern parts of Madhya Pradesh including Bhopal division, Jabalpur division. Apte said that due to snowfall in Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh, the effect of cold increased in Madhya Pradesh. Now snow is falling in Himachal Pradesh also. In such a situation, the wind speed is expected to increase. If this happens, a period of severe cold will begin in Madhya Pradesh from the first week of December itself, which will last for the entire month.

According to the Meteorological Department, the temperature in Bhopal and Jabalpur remained less than 10 degrees Celsius on Sunday-Monday night. It was recorded at 9.6 degrees in Bhopal and 9.9 degrees in Jabalpur. The temperature was recorded at 5.6 degrees in Pachmarhi, 7.3 degrees in Kalyanpur of Shahdol, 7.8 degrees in Mandla, 8.6 degrees in Girwar of Shajapur, 9.3 degrees in Umaria, 9.6 degrees in Rajgarh and 9.7 degrees Celsius in Naugaon. The mercury remained below 12 degrees in Malajkhand, Chhindwara, Betul, Rewa, Khargone, Tikamgarh, Raisen and Guna. Talking about big cities, the mercury was recorded at 13.7 degrees in Indore, 12.1 degrees in Gwalior and 12.2 degrees Celsius in Ujjain.

There was a drop in mercury in many cities on Sunday-Monday night and it increased during the day on Monday. There was a slight drop in mercury in the western districts – Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, but in Gwalior, Shivpuri, Narmadapuram, Betul, Dhar the mercury also increased by 2 degrees Celsius. The temperature also increased by 2 degrees in the eastern districts – Damoh, Jabalpur, Khajuraho, Mandla, Narsinghpur, Rewa, Satna, Sidhi, Tikamgarh, Umaria and Malajkhand. Khajuraho had the highest temperature of 31.2 degrees Celsius.
