Shri Maurya said that Raksha Bandhan is not just a festival of tying Rakhi on the wrist, but it is a sacred festival of love, trust, respect and the resolve to stand by each other in happiness and sorrow throughout life. Shri Maurya said that women empowerment has gained new momentum under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. In Uttar Pradesh, continuous efforts are being made to make women self-reliant, strengthen self-help groups and increase the livelihood of rural women.

He called that on this Rakshabandhan, we should increase love, eliminate discrimination, respect women, give opportunities to sisters to become self-reliant and strengthen social harmony. Also reiterate our resolve to build a developed, prosperous, strong and self-reliant India.
