Heart-Liver covered a distance of 22 km in 19 minutes and reached South Mumbai.

Mumbai: Mumbai Traffic Police on Wednesday created a 22 km long green corridor and transferred a heart and a liver from the airport to a hospital in south Mumbai in 19 minutes.

The convoy entered the city from Pune at around 7 pm during heavy traffic on the road. Vakola transport department senior inspector Sandeep Yele said the body pieces were taken from Gate No. 8 of Kalina Airport to Western Express Highway via Hans Bhugra in two minutes. After this, the traffic police prepared a green corridor for the transportation of organs.

Mumbai Traffic Police said in a tweet, 'It took us only 19 minutes to give a new life to someone. “By creating a 22 km green corridor for transportation of organs (heart and liver) from Kalina Airport Gate No. 8 to Reliance Hospital, Girgaum, our on-duty officials have ensured timely delivery of vital organs.”
