Ranchi, August 28 (HS). Hearing was held in the court of MP-MLA Special Judge Sarthak Sharma on Wednesday in the comment case against the then National President of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Amit Shah. The court has fixed August 31 for detailed hearing.

Earlier, Rahul Gandhi's lawyer Pradeep Chandra had filed a petition seeking exemption from personal appearance in the case. Rahul Gandhi did not appear in Ranchi's MP-MLA court despite the summons. On this, the complainant's lawyer had requested to issue an arrest warrant against Rahul Gandhi, but the hearing is pending as the service report of the summons has not been received by the court.

Advocate Vinod Kumar Sahu of complainant Naveen Jha said that he had sought time from the court to file a reply on the petition filed by Rahul Gandhi. The next hearing in the case will be on August 31. The court had earlier issued summons to Rahul Gandhi and asked him to appear. The summons issued by the MP-MLA court earlier on behalf of Rahul Gandhi was challenged in the High Court, which was rejected by the High Court. After this, the MP-MLA court again issued summons to Rahul Gandhi.

It is noteworthy that after the complaint was filed in the case in the year 2018, Ranchi Civil Court had issued summons to Rahul Gandhi for the first time. This complaint was filed by BJP worker Naveen Jha in the year 2018. It has been said in the petition that the then National President of Congress Rahul Gandhi had made objectionable remarks against the then National President of BJP Amit Shah in the convention held in Delhi. According to Naveen Jha, during this time Rahul had said that a murderer can become the President in BJP but this cannot happen in Congress. He has been hurt by this statement. The image of the party has been tarnished. Due to this, the complaint was filed.
