New Delhi, 23 November (Hindustan Reporter). Cricket Australia (CA) on Saturday announced the squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against India. Captain Alyssa Healy has been rested due to injury, with Tahlia McGrath captaining the team in her absence.

Healy is recovering from a knee injury she suffered during a Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) match and is expected to be fit for next month’s ODI series against New Zealand.

She has had a disappointing second half of the year so far, with a foot injury preventing her from playing in the second half of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 as her team lost to South Africa in the semi-finals.

Cricket Australia’s Head of Performance (Women’s Cricket) and national selector Shawn Flagler said, “Alyssa Healy’s decision to miss the series against India has been taken keeping in mind the Ashes, her availability for the New Zealand series in the next few weeks.” It will become clear.”

“Tahlia McGrath impressed as captain in difficult circumstances during the World Cup and will also be fully supported by Ash Gardner, who has emerged as a strong leader both on and off the field,” he said.

Australia will play India in a three-match series starting next month as they prepare for next year’s Ashes. This will be their first series in more than seven months, while the previous series ended with a clean sweep against Bangladesh in April.

Meanwhile, 21-year-old Georgia Woll has been included in the squad for the first time after her impressive performances in the ongoing WBBL. She is one of the top three run-scorers in the current WBBL and Women’s National Cricket League, with four half-centuries in both tournaments.

“The Georgia Vols have had a great summer and have shown the potential they have over the past several years,” Flagler said. “She will form an exciting partnership with Phoebe Lichfield at the top of the order, which will be a great opportunity for her to get a taste of international cricket against a strong India team.”
