New Delhi, 14 October (HS). Travis Head and Mitchell Marsh have not been included in Australia's 14-man squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Pakistan.

Both batsmen have been granted leave on paternity grounds, meaning youngster Jake Fraser-McGurk will get another chance at the top of the order. Matt Short, who impressed in white-ball formats on the recent UK tour, is set to be the second specialist opening batsman for Australia.

The series also sees the return of Pat Cummins, who has not played the ODI format since the World Cup final in Ahmedabad on November 19, 2023.

Along with the 31-year-old Cummins, fast bowlers Josh Hazlewood and Mitchell Starc have also been included in the squad, with the trio set to play together for the first time since the 2023 ODI World Cup final.

Marcus Stoinis has rejoined the squad due to injury to Cameron Green, who has been officially ruled out of the Australian summer due to a back strain. Due to the surgery, the all-rounder is going to be out of the game for six months. Green's injury has given Stoinis another chance in a format he has not played in since the 2023 World Cup.

However, he will face a tough challenge from Aaron Hardy, who had a very successful UK tour in white-ball formats. The ODI series will begin on November 4 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, followed by matches at Adelaide Oval (November 8) and Perth's Optus Stadium (November 10).

The Australian team for the ODI series against Pakistan is as follows: Pat Cummins (captain), Sean Abbott, Cooper Connolly, Jake Fraser-McGurk, Aaron Hardie, Josh Hazlewood, Josh Inglis, Marnus Labuschagne, Glenn Maxwell, Matthew Short, Steve Smith. , Mitchell Starc, Marcus Stoinis, Adam Zampa.
