He was duping people by posing as a fake policeman, police arrested him

Haridwar, June 22 (HS). GRP police has arrested a cunning accused from Roorkee railway station who used to threaten passengers by showing off his police power and used to take their mobile phones. Fake name plate and 03 mobile phones were recovered from the accused's possession. The accused has been produced in court and sent to jail.

Revealing the incident, Superintendent of Police Railway Sarita Dobhal said that GRP police received information that a person wearing police uniform was misbehaving with passengers at Roorkee railway station and taking their mobile phones in his possession. On receiving the information, GRP police saw a person wearing police uniform walking on platform no. 1 of Roorkee railway station whose name plate had Rajiv written on it. On the basis of suspicion, police took him into custody and brought him to the police station.

During interrogation, he revealed his name as Jarif son of Rashid Ahmad, age 28 years, resident of Clementown, Dehradun. During search, three mobile phones taken from passengers and a fake name plate were recovered from the accused. During investigation, police also came to know about the criminal history of the accused. Cases are registered against the accused under several sections in Selaqui and Patel Nagar police stations of Dehradun. A case was registered against the accused and he was produced in the court, from where he was sent to jail.
