Punjab Crime: Rupnagar police in Punjab have arrested a serial killer who had killed 11 people in the last 18 months. The accused used to give lift to people in his car and then commit robbery. When he protested against the robbery, he was murdered. The accused was so obsessed that he would have physical relations with the dead body and then touch its feet and apologize. The shocking fact in this case is that all 11 deceased were men, with whom the accused had unnatural physical relations.
Shocking information came to light after interrogating the accused.
According to reports, the accused is a resident of Chaura village of Hoshiarpur district of Punjab. He has been identified as Ram Swaroop alias Sodhi. The police had arrested him in another case on December 23. Later during interrogation it was revealed that he was a ‘serial killer’.
According to the police, the accused Sodhi used to rob people by giving them lift in his car and kill those who protested. Rupnagar Senior Superintendent of Police Gulneet Singh Khurana said, ‘Instructions were given to police officers to solve cases of heinous crimes in the district. A police team was formed to arrest the criminals involved in the murder.
Referring to a murder case in Kiratpur Sahib, a police officer said, ‘On August 18, a man of about 37 years was murdered. He used to sell tea and water at Modra toll plaza. Ramswaroop was arrested in the investigation of this case. During interrogation his involvement in another case was revealed. Accused Ram Swaroop told that the deceased had a relationship with Harpreet and then he had refused to give him money. On this there was a fight between the two and he killed Harpreet.
He touched the feet of the dead body and apologized
According to the police, the accused is an alcoholic, due to which his family had abandoned him two years ago. He is married and has three children. The accused also told the police that he felt remorse after the murder, so he used to apologize by touching the feet of the dead body.
