This number will also be available on the Income Tax Portal.

In some cases, an officer of the Income Tax Department issues notices under sections 131 and 133. Tax notices sent from the IT department do not provide any kind of payment link and are sent from the IT department domain.

– First go to the e-filing portal of the Income Tax Department and tab on the ‘Notice Issued by ITD/Order Issued by ITD’ button.
– On the new window you will have to enter the DIN or PAN number. Then you can check the authentication through OTP.
– If the notice is not sent by the tax department then the DIN number will become invalid. This means that the notice is fake.
