Indian student in Britain alleges hate campaign : Satyam Surana, an Indian student studying at Britain's world famous London School of Economics, has made a serious allegation of starting a hate campaign against him.
Satyam Surana came into limelight last year. He respectfully picked up the tricolor thrown by the protesting Khalistanis on the road in front of the Indian Consulate and was highly praised for this.
Satyam, who is studying law at the London School of Economics, wants to contest the student union elections and says that before the elections, they have started a campaign targeting me. In which I have been considered a fascist.
In an Indian news channel report, Satyam said that elections were announced in February and March and I filed my candidature for the post of General Secretary. On March 14, I saw that the posters I had put up for campaigning were being torn by a group and the words Fascist and Satyam BJP Supporter, Fascist, Islamophobe and Transphobe were written with crosses on my posters.
Satyam alleged that some people took some pictures from my social media account. In which I praised BJP. This was the reason why I was considered a fascist and on this basis a campaign was launched against me. There was no political issue in my election manifesto, only issues affecting students. Initially, I also got huge support from the students, but due to the hate campaign started against me, my chances of winning the elections were destroyed.
Satyam said that I had posted a post on social media calling Khalistanis as terrorists and perhaps because of this I have been targeted. However, I want to say clearly that India is my country and I will always advocate for India.
