Has the temperature in Nagpur and Delhi really crossed 50 degrees? Know what the Meteorological Department says

Weather News : Severe heat is troubling most parts of the country. More than 270 people have lost their lives due to heat across the country. Amidst all this, the temperature data shown by Nagpur's Automatic Weather Station (AWS) on Thursday has indicated a major danger. However, it has not been confirmed whether the data shown by AWS is correct or not.

The Meteorological Department told

Meteorological department officials say that AWS was showing such high temperature due to a fault in the sensor. Regional Meteorological Center Nagpur said in its statement that the temperature of 56 degree Celsius recorded on May 30 is not correct. The sensor of CICR near AWS recorded a maximum temperature of 44 degree Celsius.

Picked up in two places

It is noteworthy that Nagpur's AWS is situated in the middle of 24 hectares of agricultural land which is under the control of PDKV. The maximum temperature recorded at this station was 56 degrees Celsius. Apart from this, the temperature was also recorded at 54 degrees in Sonegaon's AWS. The same temperature was also recorded in Mungeshpuri, Delhi on Wednesday.

There was confusion in Delhi too!

Earlier on Wednesday, the maximum temperature in Delhi's Mungeshpuri area was recorded at 52.3 degrees Celsius. After this, the meteorological agency said that the temperature was recorded incorrectly due to a fault in the sensor. The Meteorological Department is verifying the sensor and data. IMD Director General M. Mahopatra said that we are investigating in Mungeshpuri. There are about 20 weather centers in Delhi where 14 recorded a drop in temperature and the average temperature remained below 45 to 50. That is why we have investigated the disturbance in Mungeshpuri and have sent a team for this.
