News India Live, Digital Desk: Today’s hectic lifestyle and use of smartphone or laptop till late night has had a bad effect on our eyes. Often when we wake up in the morning and look at our face in the mirror, swelling under the eyes or what we call ‘puffiness’ is clearly visible. This not only makes us look tired, but it also makes the face look quite lifeless.
The good thing is that you do not always need expensive creams or medical treatment to overcome this problem. There are some things available in our house which can reduce this swelling in a jiffy. Let us know what are those ways which can maintain the glow of your face in this busy time of 2026.
1. Cold Spoon Remedy
This is the oldest and effective method. If you have to go out somewhere in the morning and your eyes are swollen, then place two cold spoons kept in the refrigerator on your eyes for 2-3 minutes. Due to cold, the blood vessels shrink and the swelling starts reducing immediately. It seems no less than magic!
2. Cold Tea Bags (Green Tea or Black Tea Bags)
If you drink green tea or black tea, do not make the mistake of throwing away used tea bags. Tea bags contain caffeine and anti-oxidants, which are a panacea for eye puffiness and dark circles. Chill the tea bags in the refrigerator and place them on your eyelids for 10-15 minutes to relax.
3. Cucumber or Potato Slices
Cucumber and potato have been used for centuries to relieve eye fatigue and irritation. Potato contains an enzyme called ‘Catecholase’ which helps in tightening the skin. Simply cut two cold slices and apply to eyes and close your eyes. This will not only reduce swelling but will also provide internal coolness to your eyes.
4. Light pressure massage with fingers
Sometimes puffiness also occurs because fluid accumulates around the eyes. After waking up in the morning, massage the under eyes very lightly with your ring finger outwards. This helps in lymphatic drainage and removes the stagnant fluid, making the face look fresh.
How to stop the problem from its roots? (Prevention Tips)
Home remedies definitely work, but you also have to see why the swelling is occurring?
- get plenty of sleep: At least 7-8 hours of deep sleep is most important.
- Drink plenty of water: If the body remains hydrated, the body will not accumulate fluid.
- Eat less salt: Eating too much salt in dinner can also cause swelling on the face in the morning.
- Pillow position while sleeping: Sleep with your head slightly above the body so that fluids do not collect on the face.
Hopefully these simple methods will help in bringing back the sparkle of your eyes. Try these and start your day with a refreshed face!
