Chandigarh, August 9 (HS). International shooters Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh, who returned after winning three bronze medals for India in the Olympic Games, met Haryana Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini on Friday. The Chief Minister congratulated both the players on their victory and called them the pride of Haryana. In the presence of the Chief Minister, Minister of State for Sports Sanjay Singh offered the job of Deputy Director in the Sports Department to both the shooters, which they have accepted. The state government will honor all the medal winners of Haryana in a function to be held in Rohtak on August 17, where they will also be given cash prizes.
International shooter Manu Bhaker has won two bronze medals in the Paris Olympic Games, while Sarabjot Singh has won one bronze medal. Both Manu and Sarabjot reached the Chief Minister's residence in Chandigarh on Friday morning with their families. Chief Minister Naib Saini blessed Manu Bhaker by placing his hand on her head and wished her all the best. He also encouraged Sarabjot and congratulated Neeraj Chopra while talking about his silver medal in the javelin throw competition.
Three players in the Indian hockey team are from Haryana, who have won bronze medals. The CM has also praised their game wholeheartedly. Manu Bhaker and her family later met Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. Chief Minister Naib Saini said that in terms of population, only two percent of the population lives in Haryana, but out of five Indian medals, four have been won by players from Haryana. All the winning players will be rewarded and honored in the felicitation ceremony to be held on August 17 in Rohtak.
Minister of State for Sports Sanjay Singh informed that both Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh have accepted the government's offer of the job of Deputy Director in the Sports Department. Chief Minister Nayab Saini said that the Haryana government is committed to providing all facilities to the players.
My goal is to win gold in Olympics: Manu Bhaker
Praising the state's sports policy, Manu Bhaker said that Haryana's food and culture encourage sports. Parents here encourage their children to play sports from the very beginning. Then they get encouragement from the government. Manu said that this time too, her target was the gold medal, but she could not achieve this target in a very close competition. Her target is to win gold in the next Olympics. On being asked about her marriage, Manu said that she is currently 22 years old. Currently, she is studying. Her focus is on sports. Any decision in this regard will be taken only after achieving the target.
Haryana's sports policy is the best in the country- Sarbjot
Sarbjot Singh also praised the sports policy of the Haryana government and said that the state's sports policy is the best in the country and the support received from the state government definitely boosts the morale of the players. Sarbjot Singh also highlighted Haryana's dominance in the Paris Olympics and said that most of the medals won by Indian athletes were won by players from Haryana.
