Chandigarh: There is confusion regarding the alliance between Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Congress (Congress) for the Haryana Assembly elections to be held on October 5. Along with Haryana, Congress leaders of Punjab are also opposing the alliance with AAP. Although the leaders of Punjab and Haryana are giving their personal opinion on the statements being given about not forming an alliance, but internally they are appealing to the party high command not to form an alliance.
The most important thing is that the process of filing nomination papers has started in the state from September 5, which will continue till September 12. Congress has also announced its candidates on 32 seats. Despite this, the leadership of Aam Aadmi Party is hoping for an alliance with Congress.
In response to a question about the alliance, AAP's Rajya Sabha member and general secretary Dr. Sandeep Pathak said that the party is ready for an alliance. Without naming Congress leaders, he said that those who consider us weak will regret it in the future. Dr. Pathak said that the party is fully prepared to contest the elections and they are waiting for the party high command. AAP's national spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar says that talks of alliance are going on and she hopes that some solution will be found. Sources say that the Congress leadership is looking at Dr. Sandeep Pathak's statement as a move to put pressure on the Congress.
Senior Punjab Congress leader and Leader of Opposition Pratap Singh Bajwa said on the issue of alliance with AAP that the decision in this regard has to be taken by the high command, but he is personally against the alliance with AAP. Bajwa said that he has seen the performance of AAP in the recently held Lok Sabha elections. If Congress had contested the elections alone, it could have performed better, the result of Punjab is in front of everyone. At the same time, other senior leaders including former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Hooda are also opposing the alliance. According to the information, AAP is demanding 10 to 15 seats. Whereas Congress is ready to give three to five seats.
The Congress high command has announced candidates for 32 seats out of a total of 90. The last date for filing the papers is September 12.
