Harshit Rana and Varun Chakravarthy were ruled out of the England ODI and Zimbabwe T20I series, giving these veterans a chance.

A big news is emerging on the selection and fitness front for the Indian cricket team just ahead of the upcoming high-voltage three-match ODI (ODI) series against England and the Zimbabwe tour. Taking a big decision at the last moment, the selection committee of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the official replacement of injured fast bowler Harshit Rana and experienced spinner Varun Chakraborty. This change in the strategy of the Men in Blue is considered very important before this exciting match against England starting from July 14 at the Edgbaston ground in Birmingham.

Hamstring injury increased problems: Harshit and Varun out of the series

According to the official information received, during the third T20 International (T20I) match played against England, fast bowler Harshit Rana had felt stiffness and pain in the hamstring, after which the medical scan conducted has confirmed Grade-1 hamstring injury. On the other hand, spin bowler Varun Chakravarthy was also seen suffering from a similar problem in the same match and during the scan, his injury was found to be a grade-2 hamstring injury. Both the players have been directed to report to the BCCI Center of Excellence (BCCI CoE) in Bengaluru for their further rehabilitation and medical monitoring.

Entry of Prince Yadav and Ravi Bishnoi: New strength found in the squad

After the injured players were out, BCCI immediately expressed confidence in the new faces. Young all-rounder/player Prince Yadav has been included in the Indian squad in place of Harshit Rana for the upcoming ODI series against England. Apart from this, talented spinner Ravi Bishnoi has been included in the squad for the upcoming T20I series against Zimbabwe in place of Varun Chakravarthy. Leaving behind the disappointing performance of the T20 series, now with the return of senior players like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, the Indian team will try its best to make a strong comeback in this ODI series.
