Jaipur, July 28 (HS). President Draupadi Murmu appointed new governors for nine states including Rajasthan late Saturday night. Senior BJP leader and former speaker of Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Haribhau Kisanrao Bagde has been appointed as the new governor of Rajasthan. He has been appointed in place of Kalraj Mishra. Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma has congratulated the newly appointed governor.
Senior BJP leader from Rajasthan Om Prakash Mathur has been appointed as the Governor of Sikkim and Gulab Chand Kataria as the Governor of Punjab. He has also been given the responsibility of Chandigarh Administrator. Earlier, Kataria was the Governor of Assam.
Life introduction
Haribhau Kisanrao Bagde was born on 17 August 1945 in Phulambri town of Aurangabad district of Maharashtra. Born in a Maratha family, Bagde was first elected to the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly from Aurangabad East seat in 1985. He has also been a former cabinet minister in the Maharashtra government. He won the MLA election from Phulambri constituency in 2014 against Kalyan Kale of the Indian National Congress (INC). He won the 2019 assembly elections from the same constituency. When the BJP formed its first government in Maharashtra in 2014, he was appointed the Speaker of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly.
