New Delhi, 1 November (Hindustan Reporter). Hardik Pandya will remain the captain of Mumbai Indians in the 2025 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Hardik played this role in IPL 2024 in place of Rohit Sharma, who led the team to five titles. “Everything I have achieved in my life has been part of Mumbai Indians,” Hardik said after his retirement.

He said, “I feel like I have received a lot of love, it means a lot to me. My journey started from here and you know whatever I have achieved in my life, I have been a part of Mumbai Indians.”

Under Rohit's captaincy, Mumbai won five IPL titles, making him the joint most successful captain in the history of the tournament along with MS Dhoni of Chennai Super Kings. After Hardik's impressive stint as the captain of Gujarat Titans, where he led the team to both the championship title and runner-up finish in consecutive seasons, Mumbai added him back to their squad and appointed him as the team captain.

Rohit led Mumbai Indians in a total of 163 matches in IPL and Champions League T20, in which the team won 91 matches, tied four and lost 68 matches. During his captaincy, Mumbai reached five IPL finals – in 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019 and 2020 – and emerged victorious in each one.
