Hamas accepts ceasefire proposal after Israel orders to evacuate Rafah

Jerusalem: Hamas said on Monday evening that it is ready to accept the ceasefire proposal presented by Egypt and Qatar in the seven-month-long war. Hamas announced its decision after Israel ordered about 100,000 citizens of southern Gaza City to evacuate the city. Israel's order to civilians to evacuate the city simply means that Israel can attack the city in the south of the Gaza Strip at any time.

However, Hamas has indicated its willingness to join a ceasefire and subsequent peace talks proposal presented by Egypt-Qatar. However, Israel has not given any reaction in this regard.

Egyptian and Hamas officials said the ceasefire would also be implemented in a phased manner. As soon as Hamas releases its hostages in small quantities, the hostages will be released in the same period.

However, it is not yet clear to what extent Israel will accept Hamas's condition that Israel withdraw all its troops from the Gaza Strip.

After Hamas issued the statement, its supreme leader Ismail Haniyeh told Qatar's prime minister and Egypt's intelligence minister by phone.

It is also noteworthy that Israel's allies including America had asked Israel not to attack Rafah.

US President Joe Biden strongly pressured Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu not to attack Rafah. On the other hand, Saudi Arabia's Foreign Ministry, through a statement, warned against attacking Rafar, saying that Israel's action would be an act of systematically bleeding the Gaza area.
