Nainital, 24 July (HS). The High Court has granted bail to Safia Malik, wife of Abdul Malik, the mastermind of the Haldwani riots.
A criminal case has been registered against Abdul Malik's wife Safia Malik in Haldwani Kotwali. She is accused of usurping government land in Banbhulpura, Haldwani through forged documents and false affidavits.
A case has been registered against Safia Malik under sections 120B, 417, 420, 467, 468, 471 of the Indian Penal Code. The accused said that he is innocent. The allegations leveled against him are baseless.
The government opposed the bail plea and said that there are serious allegations against her. After hearing both the sides, the court granted bail to Safia Malik. The case was heard in a single bench of Justice Ravindra Maithani.
