Bhopal: Lokayukta police raided the residence and office of former RTO constable Saurabh Sharma located in E-7 Arera Colony, Bhopal on Thursday morning. Rs 1 crore 15 lakh was recovered from his office and Rs 1 crore 70 lakh was recovered from his office, totaling Rs 2 crore 85 lakh. Lokayukta police was keeping an eye on Saurabh’s activities for several months.
Apart from cash, movable and immovable property worth Rs 2 crore and jewelery worth Rs 50 lakh have been recovered from the house of constable Saurabh. This includes diamond, gold and silver jewellery. Sharma had taken voluntary retirement from the post of constable in RTO two years ago. He worked for only seven years.
Under Compassion in 2015 in the police appointed
In the year 2015, Saurabh was appointed to the police service on compassionate grounds. The police have taken this action in the case of disproportionate assets. ADG Lokayukta Jaideep Prasad confirmed the action. After taking VRS, Saurabh joined the real estate business.
According to Lokayukta police sources, Saurabh had already entered the real estate business before taking VRS. Along with this he formed close relations with influential people of the state. Due to which his real estate business progressed rapidly. Apart from Bhopal, the police has also received information about properties in other districts.
Police suspect that Saurabh may have acquired illegal wealth during his seven years of service in the transport department. Verification of documents will reveal how so much wealth was created in such a short period of time. The police have taken this action after the earlier complaint lodged against Saurabh. A case has been registered against Sharma under various sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act. And now investigation is going on.
There was a dispute regarding building a school
Saurabh is originally from Gwalior. After seeing Saurabh’s expensive hobbies during police service, complaints started being made against him in the department. After this he left the job and devoted himself completely to business. But now a few days ago there was a dispute with some people regarding the construction of a school in Arera Colony itself. Actually, it is said that this school has been built on the land reserved for gardens in Arera Colony.
