Gyanvapi controversy: Order to dispose of the petition demanding Shivling puja in eight weeks


Prayagraj, March 02 (HS). The Allahabad High Court has ordered to dispose of six (c) petitions demanding worship of the alleged Shivalinga found in the Gyanvapi complex within eight weeks. The court has said that the hearing of the case should not be postponed unnecessarily.

Justice Manish Kumar Nigam has given this order while hearing the petition of Vivek Soni and others. On behalf of the petitioner, it was said that idols of Shivalinga, fountain and many other gods and goddesses have been found in the Gyanvapi complex. An application has been filed before the Civil Judge Senior Division demanding worship of the alleged Shivalinga. This application is pending since 2022. The civil judge did not take any decision. Whereas, dates have been fixed several times for the hearing of the petition but the matter is not being disposed of. Due to the petition not being disposed of, the fundamental rights are being affected.

On this, the court has passed an order to dispose of the Civil Judge Senior Division within eight weeks. No objection was raised by Vineet Sankalp, advocate of Kashi Vishwanath Temple Trust, who was made a party in the case. Ashwani Kumar presented his position on behalf of the Hindu side.
