A petition has been filed in the court claiming that there is a Shiva temple in Ajmer Dargah in Rajasthan. In the petition, Hindu Sena has claimed that there is a Shiva temple in the dargah and has demanded an ASI survey. They also demanded that Hindus be given the right to worship in the dargah.

An Ajmer court has refused to hear a petition demanding that the dargah of Sufi saint Moinuddin Chishti be declared a Mahadev temple. The court has said that it has no jurisdiction over this dargah. In this case, Hindu Sena president Vishnu Gupta has filed an application in the court.

Hindu Sena chief Vishnu Gupta claims that this dargah is built on the ruins of a temple, so it should be named Shri Sankatmochan Mahadev Mandir. The petition also demands that the law under which the dargah operates should be declared invalid and Hindus should be given the right to worship.

What is the claim based on?

Gupta directed his Archaeological Survey of India to survey the site. Gupta's lawyer Shashi Ranjan said the plaintiff researched for two years and concluded that there was a Shiva temple there, which was demolished by Muslim invaders and later replaced with a dargah.

What does the other side have to say?

Gupta's lawyer further said, “I will file an application in the district court to transfer the case before the next hearing.” On the other hand, Syed Sarwar Chishti, secretary of Anjuman Syed Zadgan, an organization representing Ajmer Dargah sevaks, strongly condemned the case and called it a deliberate attempt to divide the society on communal lines. He further said, “The holy shrine of Khwaja Garib Nawaz in Ajmer is revered by Muslims and Hindus all over the world, especially in the Indian subcontinent. There is no doubt that the right-wing forces aim to isolate Muslims and disrupt communal harmony by targeting Sufi shrines.
