Gwalior: The city remained sunny throughout the day, clouds rained heavily in the evening | News India

Gwalior, 17 August (HS). After heavy rain on Friday night, clouds settled heavily on Saturday evening as well. The rain which started at around 5:15 pm continued till late evening. By 5:30 pm, 35.6 mm of rain was recorded in the city. The Meteorological Department has predicted rain during the next 24 hours due to the effect of cyclonic circulation formed in Rajasthan and the monsoon line passing over Shivpuri.

Gwalior city received 36.8 mm rainfall on Friday night. After this, it was sunny throughout the day from morning on Saturday. After around 5 pm, suddenly the entire sky was covered with thick clouds and heavy rain started from around 5:15 pm which continued till late evening. According to the Meteorological Department, at present the monsoon's Akshay Rekha is extended from Bikaner, Vanasthali, Shivpuri, Sidhi, Ranchi to the low pressure area formed in South Bangladesh. Here, due to the active cyclonic circulation in western Rajasthan, a trough has formed up to the western Arabian Sea. The second cyclonic circulation is formed over Telangana. From where a trough is extended to the Comorin region via Kerala and Telangana. Due to the effect of these weather systems, moisture is coming with the winds. This is why it has been raining for the last two days. During the next 24 hours also, light to moderate rain may occur at some places in Gwalior and Chambal divisions.

Due to less density of clouds during the day and bright sunshine, like Friday, on Saturday also the maximum temperature remained at 34.3 degree Celsius which is 1.5 degree Celsius more than normal. The minimum temperature also remained at 26.1 degree Celsius which is 0.1 degree Celsius more than normal. This morning the humidity in the air was recorded at 98 percent which is 15 percent more than normal while in the evening the humidity in the air was recorded at 100 percent which is 23 percent more than normal. The normal average rainfall in the entire monsoon season in the city is 751.2 mm while since June 1, a total of 695.2 mm of rain has occurred. Now the city needs only 56.0 mm more rain.
