Gwalior, 23 March (HS). Lok Sabha should follow the Model Code of Conduct implemented in view of the general elections and celebrate all the festivals including Holi, the festival of colors, in a traditional manner with mutual brotherhood, peace and harmony. Collector Ruchika Chauhan made this call in the district level peace committee meeting on Saturday. The meeting of the Peace Committee was called keeping in mind the festivals like Holi, Good Friday, Eid-ul-Fitr, Gudi Padwa, Navdurga Mahotsav, Ram Navami, Chaiti Chand etc. The Collector said that Holi should be played with love and do not force anyone. Especially women should not be treated inappropriately in the name of Holi, otherwise the police will take strict action.
Superintendent of Police Dharamveer Singh, Municipal Corporation Commissioner Harsh Singh and Additional Collector Anju Arun Kumar were also present in the meeting. Along with Sant Kripal Singh and Chamber of Commerce President Praveen Aggarwal, Qazi Tanveer, Ram Vilas Goswami, Basant Godiyale, ML Arora, Dr. Rajkumar Dutta, Amar Singh Mahour, Raju Francis, Akhtar Hussain Qureshi, Hariom Sharma, Daniel Francis and Vinayak. Gupta and other members and concerned officials were present.
In the meeting, Collector Ruchika Chauhan and Superintendent of Police Dharamveer Singh told the members of the peace committee that at present the code of conduct and section 144 are in force, hence religious processions etc. should not be organized outside the tradition. If any event has to be organised, then permission must be taken in advance. Also, separate permission should be taken for the use of loudspeakers. Special emphasis was also laid on using loudspeakers at prescribed intensity.
The Collector instructed the Municipal Corporation officials to make strict arrangements for cleanliness etc. around temples, mosques, churches and other places of worship including Gurudwaras during festivals. Besides, instructions were also given to the concerned officials not to cut power during festivals and to keep the fire brigade ready. He told the Municipal Corporation officials that drinking water should be supplied on time on Holika festival, so that the city residents can get water for bathing and washing after playing Holi.
The Collector instructed the Chief Medical and Health Officer to impose round the clock duty of doctors in all the hospitals on Holika. Also keep the ambulance safe. The Collector also gave instructions to deploy a joint team of officers from all departments in the control room of the Municipal Corporation during Holi.
The Collector, through the Peace Committee meeting, has urged the residents of the district to take full caution during Holika Dahan. Holika Dahan should not be done under or near electricity, telephone and cable wires. He said that due to less rainfall this year, the dams are empty and the city is facing water shortage. Therefore, do not waste water on other festivals including Holi. Play Holi with natural colors and gulal. The Collector also urged in the meeting to stop children from playing Holi in the water filled in the pits of mines etc.
Superintendent of Police Dharamveer Singh said that strict security arrangements have been made by the police on the Holi festival. About 1200 police personnel will be deployed across the city. The police will deal strictly with those who disturb social harmony. Drivers will be tested through breath analyzer. Therefore, no one should drive while intoxicated. Three people will not be able to travel on two-wheelers. Police will also keep surveillance through drone cameras during Holi. Through the Peace Committee meeting, he appealed to the people of the district to avoid misleading news being circulated on social media. Please verify the news. Collector Ruchika Chauhan said in the meeting that maximum voting is necessary to strengthen the democratic system. In the last assembly and Lok Sabha elections, the voting percentage in Gwalior district has been the lowest in the state. Let us all come together and make voters aware about voting to increase the voting percentage. He called upon all the members of the Peace Committee to necessarily motivate all the voters, including the youth who have completed 18 years of age, to vote in the Lok Sabha general elections to be held on May 7. Tribute paid to immortal martyr Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev
At the end of the Peace Committee meeting, two minutes silence was observed and tribute was paid to the great revolutionary and immortal martyr Sardar Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev.
