Gwalior: Five smugglers arrested with illegal marijuana | News India

Gwalior, August 13 (HS). Crime Branch and Panihar Police Station on Tuesday caught the smugglers who were carrying illegal ganja hidden in a truck and a car. On searching the truck and car, the police found sacks of ganja. The consignment of ganja was brought from Chhattisgarh for disposal but the smugglers' intentions were foiled due to the promptness of the police. The police is interrogating the smugglers about the illegal drug.

Superintendent of Police Dharamvir Singh said on Tuesday that information was received from an informer that a truck loaded with drugs was coming from Gwalior towards Shivpuri. As soon as the information was received, Crime Branch DSP Nagendra Sikarwar, Inspector Ajay Pawar and Panihar police station were directed to take action. Police started checking vehicles on Gwalior Shivpuri Highway. Police saw truck number MP 07 HB 9650 coming towards Panihar. When police stopped the truck and searched it, they were surprised. Ganja was hidden in sacks inside the truck.

When the police questioned Gopal son of Brajesh Sharma resident of Gohad Bhind, Ramu son of Kubersingh Tomar resident of Badiyar Morena and Saddab son of Sattar Ansari resident of Khatikkuura police station Bah Agra about the ganja, they told that they have brought the ganja from Raipur Chhattisgarh. There were 32 plastic sacks loaded inside the truck. The smugglers told the police that two of their companions have come from Chhattisgarh with ganja in a car. On receiving information about the consignment of ganja coming to the city by car, the police started searching for the car. On Panihar Highway, the team of Crime Branch and Panihar Police stopped a car without number and searched it. A packet was found in the trunk of the car which was filled with ganja. The police caught Ravi son of Kayamsingh Yadav resident of Ratauti Gajaura Basai Aarela Agra and Shivam son of Mukesh Gahirwar resident of Gajaura Basai Agra who were in the car. Police recovered a total of 149 kg 57 grams of ganja from the truck and car, which is worth Rs 41 lakh 21 thousand 560. After arresting five smugglers, police have registered a case against them under section 8/20 of NDPS Act and have started investigation about the ganja.
