Gwalior, September 3 (HS). A fire broke out in the air conditioner installed on the roof in the ICU ward of the Trauma Center of Jayarogya Hospital Group on Tuesday morning. This fire was extinguished immediately with the help of the doctor, paramedical staff, nursing and guards present in the Trauma Center. Also, all the patients admitted in the ICU were safely taken out along with the ventilators and taken to another ward. The hospital management has clarified that this incident is related to the death of Azad Khan, a patient from Shivpuri admitted in the Trauma Center.

Dr. RKS Dhakad, Dean of Gajara Raja Medical College, said that on Tuesday morning at around 6.50 am, the air conditioner of the ICU installed on the roof of the Trauma Center of JAH suddenly caught fire. This fire was immediately controlled by the doctors and trained staff of the hospital. The fire was extinguished with the help of fire extinguishers available in the hospital. He said that mock drills of disaster management including fire extinguishing are conducted continuously in JAH. Due to this, the trained staff easily extinguished the fire. Also, all the patients of the Trauma Center, including the most critical patients admitted on ventilators in the ICU, were safely evacuated and treatment was started in another ward.

Dean Dr. RKS Dhakad has clarified regarding the death of patient Azad Khan that the death of 68-year-old patient Azad Khan has no connection with this fire accident. Dr. Dhakad said that due to head injury, Azad Khan was referred from Medical College Shivpuri in a very critical condition and admitted to the ICU of Trauma Center of GR Medical College Gwalior. Senior neurosurgeon Dr. Aditya Srivastava got the patient's head CT scanned. Which revealed that Azad Khan had subdural hematoma and contusion in the left frontotemporoparietal region and the patient was in a brain dead condition.

Dr. Dhakad said that Azad Khan died due to a very serious head injury. Azad Khan, a patient admitted in a critical condition, was immediately evacuated along with the ventilator at around 6.50 am when a fire broke out in the ICU of the Trauma Center. Azad Khan died due to cardiopulmonary arrest, for which the patient was given CPR and all life saving medicines. But despite all efforts, Azad Khan died at 11 am.

He said that Azad Khan's death has no connection with the fire incident, because the patient was on a fully closed circuit ventilator and there was no possibility of smoke entering the patient's windpipe. Also, there was no shortage of oxygen due to the presence of an oxygen system in the trauma centre. This makes it clear that Azad Khan's death has no connection with the fire incident.
