Gwalior, 10 April (HS). A special campaign is being run in the district with the aim of effectively curbing food adulteration. Under this campaign, the Food Safety Administration team conducted a raid on Wednesday and seized about 4780 kg of mawa from two vehicles. The value of the seized mawa has been estimated to be around Rs 11 lakh 90 thousand.
According to information received from Food Safety and Drug Administration officials, two vehicles carrying Mawa were caught during investigation in Hanuman Chauraha Lashkar area on Wednesday. Mawa was being transported in 29 pieces in one vehicle and 90 pieces in the other vehicle. Samples taken from a total of 119 nuggets seized from both the vehicles have been sent to the food laboratory for testing. Food safety officers Govind Narayan Sargaiya and Satish Kumar Sharma had caught this mawa. He told that this mawa brought from the village of Bhind district was being sent to Bhopal through Mor Bazaar.
Collector Ruchika Chauhan has given instructions to further intensify the campaign against food adulteration. He has said that samples of all types of food items should be taken continuously. Also, strict action should be taken against those firms whose samples are found non-standard in the food laboratory.
