Punjabi singer Baba Bohar Gurdas Maan's troubles have increased. The Punjab and Haryana High Court has issued a notice to him on charges of hurting religious sentiments.
Justice Sandeep Moudgil's notice has come on a petition seeking quashing of the order accepting the rejected report filed by the police after investigating the case.
In fact, petitioner Harjinder Singh alias Jhinda and two others had filed an FIR under Section 295-A along with charges under Section 26 at the Nakodar City Police Station in August, 2021.
In the complaint, Gurdas Mann was accused that in a viral video, Mann had given a statement that Ladi Shah is a descendant of Guru Amardas. This statement is factually and historically incorrect.
The court was told that the particular case of the petitioner was based on the video recording given to the police and the records before the trial court. The trial court ignored the fact that Gurdas Maan had uploaded a video on his Facebook page in which he had apologized and clarified his statement. That video was also with the trial court. But without first examining the available material and adequate evidence, the revocation report was accepted and the opposition petition was ordered to be dismissed against the basic principle that the complaint is not an encyclopedia and the statements of the witnesses should be examined.
