Gujarat's talented player Avni Chitale performed brilliantly and won in the opening round of the ITF Junior World Tennis played at Ahmedabad City Tennis Foundation.
She easily defeated Telangana's Divija Manani in a one-sided match 6-3, 6-1. In some girls' matches, fifth seed Angel Patel defeated Hiya Kugasia in straight sets 6-2, 6-2. Pal Upadhyay reached the second round after Danisa Fernando retired with a score of 6-4. In other matches, Varadekar Siyate defeated Madhavi Mishra 6-2, 6-3, Disha Kumar defeated Anushka Bhola 6-3, 6-3. Apart from this, Gaurav Dalale defeated P. Munde in the first set.
After reaching the tiebreaker, he lost 6-7 (5), 6-4, 7-5.
In the boys' category, Gujarat qualifier Tanay Sharma started aggressively and won the first set 6-3 against Anjan Saburela, but his opponent's counter-attack made Tanay lose his rhythm and lose the remaining two sets 7-6, 6-1.
